Happy Halloween Fam!
Gah, we love this time of year! The holidays are always crazy stressful, but there’s also something quite magical when the whole atmosphere of boring, day-to-day life seems to shift. Our little family doesn’t have many traditions, but after moving to Long Beach, Pa’s Pumpkin Patch has become one of the few!
The patch has graced Long Beach for over 40 years, and even though we have only lived here for a few of those, we are glad to be a part of this history. Our family, like many others before us, tromps through the rows of pumpkins, awing at the range of ginormous mutants to itty-bitty cuties. Maybe, even another monster turd took a bite out of a $4.00 pumpkin, to which the guardian also non-chalantly put it back lol
Or, like us, parents have taught their children to face their fears and go on that swinging bucket of doom! Rides have changed, but there are still those old, creaky veterans, coming back year after year. Our butts have sat where many butts have sat, and we think that’s pretty cool! We get excited when we see the start of those white and red (or maybe its more orangey) striped tents and hay bales going up in the empty dirt field off of PCH. The field that for most of the year is just another piece of land easily overlooked on the daily commute. For over a month, the carnival lights and squeals of happy guests give our big town a subtle taste of small town living and pour buckets of nostalgia over passersby.
So, if you happen to be in Long Beach around October, stop by, and see what all the fuss is about.
Here’s a little secret: And, if you spent all your money on tickets and food like us, there’s some cool pumpkins at our local Ralph’s. We won’t tell ; )
